MTN To End Support For Blackberry Internet Services On January 27th

MTN Nigeria has announced their intention to quit the support for Blackberry phones. Meanwhile, it’s not strange that MTN is planning this because other network providers like Glo and Etisalat has already end the support for Blackberry devices since last year, but MTN decided to extend theirs to 2017 so as for the Blackberry users to enjoy the service for a while.

According to the message they (MTN) sent to those using their internet services on Blackberry phones, it is clearly stated that the shutting down will begin from January 27th 2017. Which means only Airtel Nigeria will be left in the support for the Blackberry internet services. See the MTN message below

"Dear customer, MTN Blackberry service will be decommissioned on 27/01/2017. Please upgrade to a Smartphone and enjoy 100% bonus on any data bundle purchased"

As you can see above that MTN does not include a specific model of Blackberry phone in the message, so if you’re Blackberry user I will advise you to be preparing to buy a new Andriod Smartphone or iOS because Airtel may decide to end the support for the Blackberry internet service anytime this year.

What are your opinions as regard this MTN move? As for me, I think Blackberry time is getting over because very soon Whatsapp will finally end support for the devices, so what will be the benefit of having it when there will be no internet to browse.. Just to make call? Eeyah! Sorry if you’re Blackberry user.
